How to Calculate FAR (Floor Area Ratio) Calculator of the Building?

Floor area ratio is the ratio of the total area by all floors (1st floor, 2nd floor, 3rd Floor…upto Top Floors) to the Total area of the plot.

Let us assume you have a plot of 400 Square meters. And our building covers 220 Square meters on the ground floor, 220 Square meters on the first floor and 80 Square meters on Top Floor.

Then, The Formula for Floor Area Ratio Ratio (FAR) will be,

FAR = (Sum of Area of all Floors/ Total Plot Area)

i.e FAR = ((220+220+80)/400) = 520/400 = 1.3

Generally, FAR is calculated in fractions. According to different building laws of the country. FAR may be different for different types of buildings. Generally adopted FAR is between 2.5 to 4.5 according to geographical conditions.
