# Estimation & rate analysis of rubble soling work

Soling is the spreading or laying of stone over the trenched ground under the structure like footing, compound wall, drainage, canal etc. Soling may be of different materials like bricks, stone etc.

Rubble soling works to provide soling of stone over the ground. Soling over the ground is done to compact the ground with a hard layer so that the structure over it does not consolidate and spoil the structure’s design.

Here we will discuss the Estimation & rate analysis of rubble (Stone) soling work step by step. The rate of soling may vary from place to place according to labour charge and materials price. Here I have discussed taking some standard values to calculate estimation and rate analysis.

## Estimation & rate analysis of rubble soling work.

Now, let us calculate the cost of rubble soling step by step of drawing above.

Given data:

Length of the rubble soling = 15 ft.

Width of the rubble soling = 8 ft.

The thickness of the rubble soling = 0.75 ft.

The total volume of the rubble soling

= [length x width x thickness]

= [15 ft. x 8 ft. x 0.75 ft.]

= 90 cu ft.

We will calculate the material and then labour required for the stone soling.

## A) Material calculation:

#### 1) Volume of rubble stone:

The required vol. of stone

= [1.25 x the vol. of rubble soling]

= [1.25 x 90 cu ft.]

= 112.50 cu ft.

#### 2. Volume of moorum:

Moorum is a disintegrated form of rocks used for filling the plinth gap in construction line road, footing, drain etc. It is red in colour but rich in aluminium.

The required volume of moorum.

= 15% of the vol. of rubble stone.

= (15 x 112.5)/100

= 16.875 cu ft.

## B. Labor calculation:

The labour rate per cu ft. of the rubble soling work ranges from INR 9/- to 15/- depending upon the region.

Let us consider an average rate of INR 12/- per cu ft.

The total cost of labour for rubble soling

= Total vol. of rubble soling in cu ft. x labour rate/ cu ft.

= 90 cu ft. x 12

= INR 1,080/

Now, let us calculate the total cost of rubble soling in table format.

## a. The cost of rubble soling /cu ft.

= [total rubble soling cost/total soling vol. in cu ft.]

= (5,610.81/90)

= INR 62.34 /cu ft.

## b. The cost of rubble soling /cu meter.

= [62.34 x 35.3147]

= INR 2,201.60/cum.

(As 1cum = 35.3147 cu ft.)

If you are preparing the bill of quantity of the project then keep in mind that, you should add an extra 10% to 15% for the contractor’s profit.
