How to calculate square feet of a house plan | 30′ x 40′ house plan

Square feet are actually an area of the house. If we take the length and width of the build-up area in feet, then the area of the house plan will be in square feet. If we take the length and width of the house plan in meters then the area of the plan will be in meters square.

There are two methods of calculating the area of a house plan. One of them is to calculate the area of each room and add them to get the total area of the plan. Keep in mind, that all the measurements should be in feet.

Another way to calculate the area is, by multiplying the total length and width of the plan as a whole having dimensions in feet.

Here we will see both examples to calculate the area of the house plan in square feet. Let’s begin.

Example-1

Calculate square feet of a house plan which consists of 4 Bedrooms, 1 living room, 1 kitchen, a Toilet bathroom and a passage having the following dimension given below.

Method-1

How to calculate square feet of a house plan | 30' x 40' house plan

1) Bed Room size – 12′ x 14′ two in number.

and 12′ x 12′ two in number. (Twelve feet by twelve feet)

2) Living Room size – 12′ x 14′ (Twelve feet by fourteen feet)

3) Kitchen Room size – 8′ x 14′ (Eight feet by fourteen feet)

4) Passage size – 4′ x 7′ (Four feet by seven feet)

Now, let us see how to calculate the square feet of a house plan.

1) Area of Bedroom = 12 x 14 x 2 + 12 x 12 x 2 = 336 + 288 = 624 square feet

2) Area of Living Room = 12 x 14 = 168 square feet

3) Area of kitchen = 8 x 14 = 112 square feet

4) Area of Passage= 4 x 7 = 28 square feet.

Hence total area of house plan will be,

= (1) + (2) + (3) + (4)

= 624 + 168+ 112 + 28

= 932 square feet.

Method-2

Calculate square feet of a house plan above having a length of 39′ (thirty-nine feet) and a width of 26′ (twenty-six feet).

Given,

Length of plan (L) = 39′

Width of plan (B) = 26′

Total Area of plan = L x B = 1014 square feet

Example-1

Calculate square feet of a house plan which consist of 4 Bedroom, 1 living room, 1 kitchen, and a veranda having the following dimension given below.

Bed Room size – 12′ x 12′ (Twelve feet by twelve feet)

Living Room size – 16′ x 12′ (Sixteen feet by twelve feet)

Kitchen Room size – 12′ x 11′ (Twelve feet by eleven feet)

Varanda size – 24′ x 8′ (Twenty four feet by eight feet)

Now, let us see how to calculate the square feet of a house plan.

1) Area of Bedroom = 12 x 12 x 4 = 576 square feet (Since, 4 is no. of bed room)

2) Area of Living Room = 16 x 12 = 192 square feet

3) Area of kitchen = 12 x 11 = 132 square feet

4) Area of veranda = 24 x 8 = 192 square feet.

Hence total area of house plan will be,

= (1) + (2) + (3) + (4)

= 576 + 192 + 132 + 192

= 1092 square feet.

Example-3

Calculate square feet of a house plan having a length of 40′ (forty feet) and a width of 30′ (thirty feet).

Given,

Length of plan (L) = 40′

Width of plan (B) = 30′

Total Area of plan = L x B = 1200 square feet

Hence in this way, we can calculate the square feet of a house plan easily.
