#### Q) Calculate the weight of steel bar and length of a steel bar of circular slab having diameter 6 feet whose rod center to center distance is 5 inches?

Solution;

Given, Diameter of Slab = 6 feet

Center to Center Spacing of steel rod (C/C) = 5 inch

**Step-1**

Convert all dimention into a single unit.

So,

Radius (R) = (Diameter/2) = 6/2 = 3 ft **{Convering feet into meter}**

= 0.914 meter (m)

C / C = 5″ = 0.127 meter (m)

Now,

**Step-2,**

Quantity of 1st Bars = √ R^{2}– (C/C)^{2} **{ This is the formula of calculating length of steel in circular slab}**

= √ (0.914)^{2}-(0.127)^{2} ** **

= **0.905 m**

Quantity of 2nd Bars = √ R^{2}– (C/C)^{2}

= √(0.954)^{2} – (0.254)^{2}

= **0.877 m **

**Similarly,**

Quantity of 3rd Bars = 0.830 m

Quantity of 4th Bars = 0.756 m

Therefore, Total length of steel Bars = 0th + 2( 1st + 2nd + 3rd +4th ) Bars

= 6+ 2 x ( 0.905 +0.877 + 0.830 + 0.756)

= **12.736 m**

But, we put the next net on the previous net.

So, Total length of the rod will be = 2 * 12.736

= **25.472 m**

Now,

If you want to calculate weight of steel then put the value in the formula, which is given below;

** Weight(w) = d ^{2}*l/162.2**

*Where d is the diameter of rod in meter and, l is the total length in meter *

*So, W = *** (12^{2} x 25.472)/162.2** { I have taken diameter of steel rod as 12 mm}

=

**22.613 kg**
