What is shear Reinforcement?

It is provided in a beam to resist diagonal tension and prevent diagonal tension failure. Even diagonal tensiins are within limit some minimum amount of shear reinforcement is provided to resist shrinkage stress and provide ductility to beam.

  1. Vertical stirrups
  2. Inclined stirrups
  3. Longitudinal bars bent-up along with stirrups.
