Different between one way slab and two way slab|Different Types of slab

Hello friend in this article l have described about the different between one way and two way slab,
Many friends had asked through comment to make an article on different between one way and two way slab so, l have brought this article today for you.

So let’s start,

First of all I would like to define slab:- Slab is constructed to give us flat and smooth surface on the ground or over the ground.

it is supported on the column, beam, wall, etc with reinfocement or without reinfocement for safe locomotion from one place to another place.

Now let us move towards the differents between one way and two way slab.

One way slab

1) In one way slab two beams are only used to support slab. It means the slab are supported by four two beam.

See in the picture this is one way slab because here one beam is this and another beam is these all of them are two beam only.

2) In one way slab the ratio of length to width of slab is always equal or greater than two.

3) Main reinforcement is provided in only one direction is one way slab.
See in this picture this is main rod and this is distribution rod.

So, the main rods has provided only in one direction of the slab.

4) Loads are transferred though two direction.

Two way slab

1) In two way slab four beams are used to support slab. It means the slab are supported by four beam.

See in the picture this is two way slab because here one beam is this and another beam is these all of them are four beam.

2) In one way slab the ratio of length to width of slab is always less than two.

3) Main reinforcement is provided in both direction is two way slab.
See in this picture this is main rod and this is distribution rod.

So, the main rods has provided in two direction of the slab.

4) Loads are transferred though all four direction of slab.

So, I hope this article on “Different between one way and two way slab remains helpful for you”.
